THE NATIONAL SERVICE HONOR
Recognizing individuals across the country for their dedication to community service.
INSPIRING COMMUNITIES.
CONTINUING A LEGACY.
The National Service Honor was created to recognize and celebrate meaningful volunteer service in every community. Open to schools, nonprofits, community groups, and individuals, the National Service Honor makes it simple to acknowledge the impact of volunteers at every level.

When volunteers are celebrated, their impact grows. Recognizing their time, compassion, and commitment not only honors the individual, it inspires others to serve. The National Service Honor brings communities together to share stories of giving back, build leadership, and strengthen civic engagement across the country.
The National Service Honor recognizes volunteers of all ages who make a meaningful impact in their communities. Awards are based on verified service hours in a 12-month period, ensuring every recipient’s effort is validated and celebrated.
These levels match the thresholds previously used by the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This gives volunteers, coordinators, and organizations a clear and trusted benchmark for recognition.

The National Service Honor is modeled after the retired Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) and serves to fill the gap left behind. This national recognition is available to individuals who complete impactful volunteer service within a 12-month period.
You may apply as an individual with validated service hours or as an organization that can certify volunteer hours on behalf of an individual or a group of volunteers.

We’re thrilled by the response to the launch of The National Service Honor and grateful for the incredible number of students, schools, and organizations who are applying. Along with the excitement, we’ve also received a handful of common questions. Here’s everything you need to know:
If my organization was a certifying partner for the PVSA, do I need to reapply?
No. If your organization was already certified for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA), you are automatically recognized as a certifying partner for The National Service Honor.
What 12-month period do I need to use?
There is no set calendar period. Individuals can use any consecutive 12 months of service hours (for example, March 1, 2023 – February 29, 2024). It doesn’t need to be January through December.
When are awards processed and shipped?
Please allow two to four weeks for processing. Once processed, awards typically arrive three to seven business days later.
What does pricing look like for groups?
Pricing is designed to be affordable for schools and organizations ordering multiple awards at once. Each award includes a pin, certificate, and letter.
- First award: $40 (includes processing, and shipping)
- Next 10 awards: $20 each (when shipped to the same mailing address)
- Additional awards: $15 each (after the first eleven)
- Optional medallions: An additional $15 each
Do I need to be using Helper Helper to apply?
No. While Helper Helper is a robust solution that makes tracking volunteers hours easier, it’s not required. To apply, you simply need an organization that can certify your volunteer hours.
EMPOWERING VOLUNTEERS.
RECOGNIZING REAL IMPACT.
Since 2013, the Helper Helper Team has been passionate about connecting volunteers with meaningful experiences in their communities. We built a powerful volunteer management system that is used by non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, K-12 Schools, and companies.
When the Presidential Volunteer Service Award was put on hold we wanted outstanding volunteers across the country to continue to be recognized for their tremendous contributions.
With the National Service Honor, we continue the legacy of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, setting a standard for excellence in volunteerism that everyone can understand and trust.
