Award levels are based on verified service hours completed during the certification period — any consecutive 12 months of service.

I have reviewed the award level requirements above and understand the certification period and age requirements, including that a recipient may need to be within the age group for at least 7 of the 12 months.
Agreement
You must acknowledge each commitment.
Our organization agrees to:
Verify only hours that were actually completed.
Maintain records supporting volunteer participation.
Cooperate with National Service Honor if a verification audit is conducted.
Remove volunteers who are found to have falsified records.
Distribute the award to certified recipients.
You must confirm this before submitting your application.
We confirm the following activities
do not count
for volunteer hours for the National Service Honor:
Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
Proselytizing
Conducting worship service
Religious instruction
Political lobbying (non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
Donating funds
Serving only family members
